Becoming a symbol allowed Prince to bypass a disagreement with Warner Brothers in the mid-nineties. It’s impossible not to associate the name with a symbol even after he changed it back. The signature “43” permanently associates President Bush with serenity, and will continue to do so no matter how often the term of the forty-third presidency is ridiculed for crimes of torture.
The Bush administration is known for waterboarding. The president himself didn’t commit the actual acts, he only signed off on the orders. With news of declassifying a report by the CIA of torture techniques used during this era, the forty-third president distracts the media with paintings of sweet animals and world leaders.
The former president now spends his time trying to capture the soul with brush strokes. Even the bad reviews must make him smile, as he knows focus is lost from those events that transpired while he was in office. For those human rights activists who were angered about the interrogation techniques used in Gitmo, have you seen 43’s painting of the Dalai Lama? He captured a real sweetness with that one.
An exhibit of his artwork may be viewed at the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, located in Dallas, TX. “The Art of Leadership: A president’s personal diplomacy,” is meant to educate the public on the importance of leadership at a global level. Portraits painted of World leaders will be on exhibit from April 5, 14 – June 3, 14, and will be set among other items to help reflect the relationship President Bush shared with each individual. (George W. Bush Presidential Center Announces 2014 Special Exhibitions) His signature cast a new light on his 43’rd presidency; this may prove to be just as valuable to him as anyone who obtains a painting signed number 43.
