The Great Song Lyrics of Robin Hood

In 2008, Irving Picard was appointed trustee of Bernie Madoff's assets seized by the court.  It's not easy to liquidate a bankrupt company.  In order to retrieve the $65 billion that Bernard Madoff once claimed to hold in customers' accounts, Mr. Picard filed lawsuits seeking $100 billion against banks and others who had at one time listed profits that didn't exist, since it was determined a Ponzi scheme in the end.  "We'll find a way to make him pay, and steal our money back."  Is that extra $35 billion meant to pay the 33% percent lawyer fee, or will Madoff's investors' receive that return they once dreamed of?

The Mets are hoping for blue skies ahead now that they've settled for $162 million in the Madoff case.  This settlement is in addition to an $83 million they had already been ordered to pay, yet a far cry from the $1 billion originally sought.  Since the Mets have a $178 million claim against Madoff as a recorded net loss, how much of that $162 million are they liable for?  "Once we watched a lazy world go by; now the days seem to fly."  Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz can now focus on baseball.

Trustee Irving Picard has filed hundreds of law suits on behalf of Madoff's victims, against those who profited.  Stealing from the rich to give to the poor, it doesn't matter one iota if those who made money were actually in cahoots with the fraudster.  What matters is that they withdrew more money than they put in, before they learned what Bernard Madoff was all about.  "Don't tell me it's not worth fighting for."  Mr. Picard is suing a retired 83 year old man in FL, for his tax refund.  The man reportedly received a 900,000 tax refund on the taxes he paid on the fictitious income.  The taxes were very real, however the income wasn't―check please.

"Can't you see the tears we're cryin'?"  The retiree from FL is not the only one with worries of Mr. Picard.  There are victims who lost their life savings to Madoff, who now have to worry about being sued by Irving Picard.  There are retirees who knew nothing about the Ponzi scheme, who had thought they were withdrawing money from their accounts that belonged to them, who find themselves late in their lives back in the work force.  Are these folks being victimized a second time?

Not all stories have a Disney ending.  Modern day Robin Hood, Irving Picard, could almost be seen as the con man in this case.  Now that the Mets have settled, it may be time to move on to the $6.4 billion suit against JP Morgan Chase.  "O-Da-Lalli, O-Da-Lalli, Golly what a day!"

"Game Change"

Portrayed by Julianne Moore all the way down to the accent, Sarah Palin is still in the forefront 4 years after entering the spot light in the last run for the White House.  The depiction of Palin will be as fair and balanced as is her position with FOX News.  If she does have to throw her hat in the ring, will she leave her position with FOX, or can she do both?

Unlike so many before her who held the position of governor or senator while running for the presidency, Palin quit her office in Alaska to focus on the 2012 presidential race.  Some may have interpreted that to mean she was intending to run.  No, as it turns out she was focusing on the race from a pundits stand point.  When Palin launched her PAC-funded bus tour, there were some folks who thought she was campaigning.  No, she was vacationing on political contributions.

Sarah Palin spoke to FOX on Super Tuesday, "I don't think anybody needs to bow out at this time.  They're getting a lot of free media right now... Anybody but Obama."  Sara Palin carries on about Obama's lack of understanding for the constitution, as well as the "false depiction" of her in the new HBO movie.  She says that she is not going to go see the movie.  It's a good thing for her it's available on cable and can be viewed in the privacy of her own home.  Such a tease, when ask if she would consider VP slot again, she suggested a candidate, then said that doesn't mean "No."

At least she isn't a flake.  Bill Maher has a name for her; apparently it starts with a C and is not catty.  Everyone is always so against the GOP, if only they had a couple of outspoken critics to put on spin on the liberals angle.  The bad vibes came after Limbaugh was forced to apologize for designating Sandra Fluke as a slut.  Palin said Limbaugh was entitled to free speech and that the liberals are hypocrites.  Speaking of which, Palin and Limbaugh suggest Obama should return Maher's political donation due to the name Maher has for her.  Maher tweeted late Tuesday,   “Hate to defend #RushLimbaugh but he apologized, liberals looking bad not accepting. Also hate intimidation by sponsor pullout.”

All in all, why is she back in the news?  She cast her vote for Gingrich, putting her back in the limelight.  On a final note, "Game Change" premieres Saturday, March 10, 9PM on HBO.

My banter was on current affairs and ran from 2011 - 2016. I currently enjoy writing satire and horror shorts.

I chose themes to run against each current event to bring some entertainment to my Banters. I began writing the banter in February 2011, and wrote my last in February 2016.
