When Donald Trump took part in the first GOP debate in August 2015, he didn’t expect to be asked such tough questions.  The Donald thought he was the GOAT, and had no idea they intended to eat him.  Moderator Megyn Kelly didn’t hold back when pressing the candidate about past misogynistic remarks, such as referring to women as “fat” or “pigs”, and continued her questioning by providing other examples after he joked, “only Rosie O’Donnell!” (Phillips, 2015)  The Trump-Kelly feud began.

The fearless Trump began bullying Kelly on Twitter.  He must have watched her show to get some ammunition.  On August 24, 2015, Trump tweeted, “I liked The Kelly File much better without @megynkelly. Perhaps she could take another eleven day unscheduled vacation!”  A few minutes later Trump followed up with, “@mstanish53: @realDonaldTrump @megynkelly The bimbo back in town. I hope not for long.”  Several months have passed, but Trump hasn’t overcome his issues with Megyn Kelly.  On January 27, Trump tweeted, “I refuse to call Megyn Kelly a bimbo, because that would not be politically correct. Instead I will only call her a lightweight reporter!” By the following day, he’d already forgotten his pledge to stay politically correct.  On January 28, Trump tweeted a picture of Megyn Kelly along with “@gene70: @FireFlyFury @megynkelly @realDonaldTrump And this is the bimbo that's asking presidential questions?” Trump’s feud with Megyn Kelly has been mostly one-sided.

Megyn Kelly mentioned in an interview with “Charlie Rose” last October that neither her nor FOX News wanted “a war with Donald Trump.” (Kreps, 2015)  January 28, she moderated another debate.  Kelly made mention of the missing Trump then cast him aside and went after the other candidates.

Kelly told Time magazine that prior to the Donald running for president, he use to send her press clippings about herself, and sign them “Donald Trump.”  The reason why became clear after she learned he was running for president. (Rhodan, 2016)  The two are no longer pals, and haven’t been since she moderated the GOP debate last August.  In this case the goat took himself out of the tiger’s pen.  He would rather lose Iowa than answer the tough questions ask by FOX news.  His no show may have been his smartest move yet, as he leads the Iowa polls for Republican nominee.  Hopefully he doesn’t face any tough situations if he gains the presidency, can’t boycott the world.

Go West

When the NFL announced its intentions to return a team to Los Angeles, the Raiders, Chargers, and Rams all showed interest.  Two teams were focused on a Carson site, and one on a location in Inglewood.  It was up to NFL owners to determine which site would be the home of the new stadium.  To avoid the debate, owners cast anonymous votes to determine which location was the favorite.  And the radar locked on the Inglewood stadium presented by Ram’s owner Kroenke.

With much talk over the last season as to which fans would lose their team to a new city, we now know the St. Louis Rams are returning to their roots.  With spirits rising, there could still be more, looks like the Chargers could blow right out of San Diego.  The Chargers begin negotiations today for consideration as the second team to call Inglewood home.  Dean Spanos will need to make a decision quickly as to whether they will be the San Diego Chargers or the LA Chargers in 2016.

The Chargers don’t have a fan base in LA, and Spanos determination to move the team there doesn’t bid will with the fans they have in San Diego.  The Chargers arranged for Disney CEO, Bob Igor to present the Carson plan.  They thought teaming up with Oakland and Disney would seal deal, but their gravy train was late, as Kroenke had already bought up a nice piece of land to propose his deal on in 2014.

Back in 2010 when Kroenke took ownership of the Rams, he insinuated that he would do all he could to keep the Rams in St. Louis.  More than any other city, St. Louis worked up efforts to ensure their football team remained.  The city had big plans for a new river front stadium.  St. Louis probably hates the Rams more for knowing how much they loved them, since now they’ve gone away.

Fans are emotional, some drowning their sorrows talkin’ about the damn good times.  Not all fans are remembering the good times though, many who have spoken up, focus their anger on how greedy the owners and commissioner are.   Deadspin published numerous letters with their article “A special message from Rams and Chargers Fans.”  These letters get the point across how devastating it can be to a devoted fan when their team is moved to another state.  When you’re a multi-million dollar industry though, what’s the loss of a few fans.

My banter was on current affairs and ran from 2011 - 2016. I currently enjoy writing satire and horror shorts.

I chose themes to run against each current event to bring some entertainment to my Banters. I began writing the banter in February 2011, and wrote my last in February 2016.
