“Tenets - put behind - Death's large - Democratic fingers - Rub away the Brand.” (Dickinson) Sean Conway, Weld County Commissioner, has indicated that he loves Colorado, but he no longer recognizes it since it’s slipped from red to blue. The liberals control the legislature and are using their power to bring change to the policies and regulation. Colorado no longer feels like Colorado to the conservatives of the northern counties. (Rawlings, 2013)
“If Circassian - He is careless.” (Dickinson) Colorado Governor, John Hickenlooper, doesn’t even speak the same dialect as his northern counterparts. What do they mean they want to secede from the state? Governor Hickenlooper understands that their trying to get a point across, but what is their point? They say it’s about gun sale policies, agriculture issues, and civil unions for gays. Well, that just can’t be. These policies are popular with all. If only someone could interpret for him the perception of this developing confederacy of Circassia?
State senator, Greg Brophy, whose district covers the 11 counties petitioning to secede from the state, breaks it down. “They feel like they have been ignored.” (Whaley, 2013) He is a republican candidate running against current Governor, Hickenlooper. He hears these folks loud and clear. They would like the GOP to take over.
If Northern Colorado were to be granted secession, we must consider what would happen if they were ever to lose their red hue. What if it again turned blue? To answer, I share my final line. “From the minutes of this meeting, we must deem implausible.”
