Lockout

Will there be a 2011 season for the NFL?  It's still too early to tell.  A player lockout will only contribute to a loss of support from the fan's.  This has already become apparent in Dallas, where wide receiver, Dez Bryant, was escorted out of a local mall.

After being asked by an off-duty officer to pull his pants up, Bryant responded with a vocabulary that required authorities to step in.  This is not Bryant's first disruption at the mall.  If we only we could have kept him distracted with something better, say the upcoming season.  Most major league players achieve their criminal record with greater offenses.

Talk of the draft is still news, even with hopes of this season being up in the air.  Why does it seem that everyone wants a new quarterback?  It's hard to imagine Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees, suing the owners over unfair conditions.  Perhaps it's time they bring in the replacements.

Ochocinco, is currently seeking an alternate sport.  Will he join Beckham in making MLS a more popular sport in the states?  Will he change his name to match his number?  Both are valid questions, and I think they should give him shot, as he has suggested he would do so for free.

From the fan's perspective, I'll admit I'm looking for a replacement sport as well if this season is gone.  The greed that has brought the players and owners to the point of a lockout should be seen as both their losses, as it should be the fans that move on.

Disillusioned

During the administration of the only president to ever be elected two terms for both the VP and Presidential position, Freddie Mac, was presented as a companion to Fannie Mae.  "I am not a crook."  This may be the most recognizable quote, second only to, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman."

She was older, more reformed, and 32 years his senior.  Their marriage may seem unconscionable in this day and age.  Who are we to judge though?  As the funders of their relationship, we have supported them from the day we bought our first home.  However, time always brings change.

Monopolies are meant to drive up prices, or in the finance world, rates.  A companion would introduce a competitive edge.  I believe the idea at the time was to avoid any extreme financial fiasco.  I don't believe the thought ever entered anyone's mind that competition could cripple the economy.  We were given two mortgage giants who pooled together mortgages.  They offered them to investors as though they were gold, but in the long run they worked out to be pyrite.

Since the mortgage collapse, gold has become the new gold.  How often do you hear media personalities encouraging folks to buy gold?  They guide our economy with their opinions.  If we allow, they will soon create another bubble for us to pop.  No good deed ever goes unpunished.

Our House of Representatives appear to agree on showing Fannie and Freddie the door.  They hope to bring an end to that power over the next few years.  Some believe without them, mortgages will be hard to come by.  Without them, banks will be reluctant to loan.  Without them, larger down payments will be required, which in the long run will put America back on her feet.

My banter was on current affairs and ran from 2011 - 2016. I currently enjoy writing satire and horror shorts.

I chose themes to run against each current event to bring some entertainment to my Banters. I began writing the banter in February 2011, and wrote my last in February 2016.
