"Come Out and Play"

Russia and China have received much criticism recently over a veto at the UN calling for Syrian President Bassar al-Assad to step down.  Russia justified the move by indicating it could only lead to greater bloodshed.  As a gesture to contain the massacre, Russia continues to be the lead supplier in arms with the Syrian government.  Then there is China, a strong supporter of human rights, who could possibly lose Syria as a major trade hub if they get overly involved.  Long live President Assad!

It's been an unending death spree for the past eleven months.   Scores of people have been killed in Syria since the uprising in March 2011.  Peace has a price, and for the Syrian government, there is a payment plan.

Should the US consider arming Syrian rebels?  The Syrian army has surrounded the city of Homs.  They not only have guns, but tanks and air artillery to play with as well.  For the rebels to overcome the Syrian government, it seems they're in need of assistance.  Rebels and innocents watch as their loved ones are murdered by a corrupt government, some argue they must be given the opportunity to save themselves.

Perhaps our government is wising up from their approach to previous situations.  We are not heading over to engage in war rather a discussion is on the table for arming the FSA (Free Syrian Army) with the aid or ammunition necessary that they can establish their own freedom.  Imagine the outcome, had we considered arming the Iraqis' back when we began our war on terror.  The downside is what if the weapons end up in the wrong hands, which would be that of a government regime comparable to Stalin or Hitler.

Keep em' Separated; religious persecution exists between the Syrian government and the citizens.  The idea may seem a little backwards that it is the religion of the Syrian regime and it's army that has received the persecution.  Shiite and Sunni Muslims are divided; Alawites are considered to be a sect of Shiite Muslims with beliefs that precede the beginning of Islam.  Alawites are the minority in Syria, yet the faith of the Assad regime.  The Alawite forces brought his father to power in 1970, and President Assad plays on the fear of the Sunni revenge to keep his powerful seat.  "Come out and play" courtesy of the offspring.

My banter was on current affairs and ran from 2011 - 2016. I currently enjoy writing satire and horror shorts.

I chose themes to run against each current event to bring some entertainment to my Banters. I began writing the banter in February 2011, and wrote my last in February 2016.
