Will he or won’t he?  That question was at the forefront when Peyton Manning got off to a rough start for the 2015 season, as well as when the season ended with a Denver Broncos Super Bowl win.  The media’s focus of Peyton Manning has changed recently into something that has nothing to do with the NFL.  Did he or didn’t he?  That is what they’re focused on now.

With the many slants on each rumor it’s hard to determine what to believe. Some media outlets want to brush the mess under the rug by making light of the interpretation that the accuser was a victim, or imply that his accuser was going to hurt Manning’s academic record with accusations that he cheated on a class that was pass/fail based on attendance.  On the plus side, the resurfacing of the sexual assault rumors appear to have made the rumors of the HGH doping accusations less interesting.

Since the drug allegations came out, it has since been reported that the HGH drugs were reportedly addressed to Manning’s wife.  A thorough investigation will be done to ensure that it wasn’t Manning who was using HGH.

While we’re dragging Peyton’s name through the dirt, let’s dig up that time when he called Colt’s kicker Vanderjagt an idiot in response to Vanderjagt’s negative comments about Manning and Dungy following the 2002 post season.   The media has reported on this irrelevant piece once again, as this should somehow tarnish the Manning legacy.  Who is he to respond to a teammate’s comments questioning his ability to lead the Colts?

None of the news about Peyton Manning’s past is new news.  So many outlets are trying to make it appear as though the allegations were previously hidden from the public with, “Manning’s fall from grace”, or “Manning’s legacy is on the line.”  Nothing was ever hid, as the allegations were very much in the news when they were present and not past.  Manning can anonymously fight the smear by letting a public relations representative take care of the rumors.  Maybe it’s the work of his PR person to flood the media with news that the secret 94’ file that eventually led to the “incident” in 96’ was due to accusations Manning cheated on a pass/fail class rather than about something serious.

Since Manning’s salary is guaranteed at 19 million if he’s still on the roster March 8, it’s safe to say either Manning or the Broncos will make an announcement before then.  The media can then put it out there as, “Peyton Manning Retires Amid Sexual Assault Allegations.”  If he doesn’t retire we may see the headline, “Broncos cut Peyton Manning Amid Sexual Assault Allegations.”  If neither headline appears, then it looks like New England will be the AFC team most likely to appear in Super Bowl 51.

When Donald Trump took part in the first GOP debate in August 2015, he didn’t expect to be asked such tough questions.  The Donald thought he was the GOAT, and had no idea they intended to eat him.  Moderator Megyn Kelly didn’t hold back when pressing the candidate about past misogynistic remarks, such as referring to women as “fat” or “pigs”, and continued her questioning by providing other examples after he joked, “only Rosie O’Donnell!” (Phillips, 2015)  The Trump-Kelly feud began.

The fearless Trump began bullying Kelly on Twitter.  He must have watched her show to get some ammunition.  On August 24, 2015, Trump tweeted, “I liked The Kelly File much better without @megynkelly. Perhaps she could take another eleven day unscheduled vacation!”  A few minutes later Trump followed up with, “@mstanish53: @realDonaldTrump @megynkelly The bimbo back in town. I hope not for long.”  Several months have passed, but Trump hasn’t overcome his issues with Megyn Kelly.  On January 27, Trump tweeted, “I refuse to call Megyn Kelly a bimbo, because that would not be politically correct. Instead I will only call her a lightweight reporter!” By the following day, he’d already forgotten his pledge to stay politically correct.  On January 28, Trump tweeted a picture of Megyn Kelly along with “@gene70: @FireFlyFury @megynkelly @realDonaldTrump And this is the bimbo that's asking presidential questions?” Trump’s feud with Megyn Kelly has been mostly one-sided.

Megyn Kelly mentioned in an interview with “Charlie Rose” last October that neither her nor FOX News wanted “a war with Donald Trump.” (Kreps, 2015)  January 28, she moderated another debate.  Kelly made mention of the missing Trump then cast him aside and went after the other candidates.

Kelly told Time magazine that prior to the Donald running for president, he use to send her press clippings about herself, and sign them “Donald Trump.”  The reason why became clear after she learned he was running for president. (Rhodan, 2016)  The two are no longer pals, and haven’t been since she moderated the GOP debate last August.  In this case the goat took himself out of the tiger’s pen.  He would rather lose Iowa than answer the tough questions ask by FOX news.  His no show may have been his smartest move yet, as he leads the Iowa polls for Republican nominee.  Hopefully he doesn’t face any tough situations if he gains the presidency, can’t boycott the world.

When the NFL announced its intentions to return a team to Los Angeles, the Raiders, Chargers, and Rams all showed interest.  Two teams were focused on a Carson site, and one on a location in Inglewood.  It was up to NFL owners to determine which site would be the home of the new stadium.  To avoid the debate, owners cast anonymous votes to determine which location was the favorite.  And the radar locked on the Inglewood stadium presented by Ram’s owner Kroenke.

With much talk over the last season as to which fans would lose their team to a new city, we now know the St. Louis Rams are returning to their roots.  With spirits rising, there could still be more, looks like the Chargers could blow right out of San Diego.  The Chargers begin negotiations today for consideration as the second team to call Inglewood home.  Dean Spanos will need to make a decision quickly as to whether they will be the San Diego Chargers or the LA Chargers in 2016.

The Chargers don’t have a fan base in LA, and Spanos determination to move the team there doesn’t bid will with the fans they have in San Diego.  The Chargers arranged for Disney CEO, Bob Igor to present the Carson plan.  They thought teaming up with Oakland and Disney would seal deal, but their gravy train was late, as Kroenke had already bought up a nice piece of land to propose his deal on in 2014.

Back in 2010 when Kroenke took ownership of the Rams, he insinuated that he would do all he could to keep the Rams in St. Louis.  More than any other city, St. Louis worked up efforts to ensure their football team remained.  The city had big plans for a new river front stadium.  St. Louis probably hates the Rams more for knowing how much they loved them, since now they’ve gone away.

Fans are emotional, some drowning their sorrows talkin’ about the damn good times.  Not all fans are remembering the good times though, many who have spoken up, focus their anger on how greedy the owners and commissioner are.   Deadspin published numerous letters with their article “A special message from Rams and Chargers Fans.”  These letters get the point across how devastating it can be to a devoted fan when their team is moved to another state.  When you’re a multi-million dollar industry though, what’s the loss of a few fans.

Carl Icahn always has his hands in something.  Whether he's buying a controlling interest to perform some preemptive maintenance, stopping another from a takeover he can’t get on board with, or just holding out on a political candidate's offer, you can bet he's having an effect.  In the month of December, Mr. Icahn bought a majority stake in Cheniere Energy and won a bidding war for Pep-Boys.

Cheniere Energy CEO, Charif Souki was fired mid-December after Icahn bought a 14% stake in the liquefied natural gas company.  As an activist investor, Icahn buys up failing companies and parts ways with the failing company’s management, with intentions to get the company moving forward on a track that will increase stock value.  Icahn took issue with Chief Souki’s “aggressive expansion” plans. (Tully, 2015)  With the collapse in the energy market, Icahn didn’t see expansion benefitting the shareholders.

In late October, Bridgestone and Pep Boys announced their merger.  Icahn showed interest in Pep Boys in the summer and early fall, but was quiet up until this month.  Maybe there was something he didn’t like about the merger with Bridgestone, or he realized better options may be available by him acquiring a controlling stake in Pep Boys. Icahn won the bid at $18.50 a share.  Pep Boys stopped acquisition talks with Bridgestone on December 30, and Icahn enterprises paid the $39.5 million dollar termination fee on Pep Boys behalf. (Stynes, 2015)

Donald Trump indicated previously that he would like to bring Carl Icahn in as US Treasury Secretary in the event Trump becomes president.  Icahn stated, “I’m not ever going to be secretary of anything in Washington.”(Gillespie, 2015)  He has already found his niche as billionaire investor.

Failed hedge fund, Millennium Global Emerging Credit Fund Ltd., had approximately 1 billion dollars in losses and was closed in 2008.  The funds manager, Michael Balboa, was jailed for fraud in 2014.  The fund’s investors sued Millennium as well as others in a 2012 suit, and were awarded 15 million.  Investors have yet to see a dime of that settlement, and the failed fund is currently working to recover 53 million from Citibank. (Chellel, 2015)

The funds manager, Michael Balboa, was convicted of securities fraud in 2013.  In June 2014, he began his four-year prison sentence.  He was accused of inflating the value of Nigerian debt.  Since it appeared to be performing much greater than it actually was, he was able to generate more income from investors.

Millennium Global Emerging Credit Fund Ltd. began liquidation in 2008.  KPMG is liquidating the fund, and has said that Citibank undervalued assets when it closed out trades during the financial crisis.  The assets Citibank was said to undervalue were also related to Nigerian debt. Citibank has claimed that the assets were not liquid and hard to value, but even had they been off it was not to the extent Millennium claims.

Sounds a lot like a schemer trying to fool its associates into helping them repay a debt.  The fund failed at the height of the financial crisis.  Nearly seven years after the fact lawsuits are still being pursued over undervalued assets.  In similar news, the Fed announced Wednesday they would raise the benchmark lending rate for the first time since the financial crisis.

Shares of BTG Pactual continue to sink after a partnership between a billionaire banker and a government official failed to impede a graft-probe.  Senator Delcidio do Amaral is the first Senator to be arrested since the 1988 constitution established parliamentary immunity.  Andre Esteves resigned Sunday as CEO and chairman of the large investment bank BTG Pactual, as he won’t be leaving his cell anytime soon. The original investigation revolved around corruption in Petrobras, a giant oil company that is state-controlled.  Amaral and Esteves are accused of attempting to persuade a key witness from signing a plea agreement to cooperate in the investigation. (Goy, 2015)

BTG Pactual lost more than $1 billion from their investors, as many began pulling out once Esteves was arrested.  The busted obstruction led shares and bonds to drop in value.  Moody’s Investor Service and Fitch Ratings are keeping an eye on the floodgates to see how much waste enters the market, incase they have to downgrade the bank’s rating.

The scandal also adds additional pressure to Brazil’s political party.  While the party should be focused on dealing with budget deficits and their underperforming currency, leaders of both houses are under investigation.  (Raymond Colitt, 2015)  Senator Amaral, leader of the upper house, is detained.  Eduardo Cunha, speaker of the lower house, denies allegations that he took a bribe to pass legislation benefiting the bank.  Eduardo Cunha has not yet been arrested, but is under investigation for taking a 12 million dollar bribe from Andre Esteves.  Cunha is also under investigation for some Swiss bank accounts that recently surfaced, but he swears the funding of those accounts is completely legal.

Scandals are never non-reactive.  Just as a busted dam fills a river with waste, this busted obstruction will have long-term effects on the Brazilian economy.

Like Eisenhower, Trump has a plan for illegal immigrants. He doesn’t think immigration would even be an issue for the debates had he not made it an issue.  The Donald believes he’s taken a lot of abuse for his comments on immigration.  He will defund sanctuary cities and build a wall.  He’s currently building a hotel in Washington DC that’s ahead of schedule and under budget.  He believes it to be the greatest hotel in America, and this is how he knows he can build the Trump wall.  This wall that Mexico will pay for is going to have a door in it for people to enter through legally.  Today America is a gross incompetence of division, and Trump is going to change that.  He’ll bring people together.  He keeps telling us, “We are going to make America great again, better than ever before.” (Full Speeches: GOP Candidates At "Sunshine Summit" In Florida, 2015)

Carson retired in Florida, but is ready to return to work for the American people.  The man knows a lot about poverty, and believes the war on poverty has resulted in more folks in poverty.  In his Sunshine State speech, he told us what he would do if he was trying to destroy America.  He would try to drive wedges between everyone and everything, and destabilize the country financially.  He would invite people in and give them free benefits, including college.  He would decrease military, and take us out of the space race.  Not a far cry from our current state.  He tells us,  “We can turn it around, but if we don’t win and get another progressive in office, we’ll be toast.” He wants everyone to realize his or her role in making sure that doesn’t happen. (Full Speeches: GOP Candidates At "Sunshine Summit" In Florida, 2015)

Huckabee wants us to stop the corruption in the nations capital, because that’s what is ruining our country.  He will scrap the tax code, and implement the fair tax so we’re paying tax on consumption as opposed to productivity.  He wants to fix the economy, and bring manufacturing jobs back to America. He will secure the border in under a year.  He wants those that cross the border to do so with the intentions of contributing to our great United States.  Huckabee tells us that self-government is better than an elected government.  His high hopes are admirable, but how is he going to make them a reality?  (Full Speeches: GOP Candidates At "Sunshine Summit" In Florida, 2015)

Marco Rubio is the first of the candidates to officially get his name on the ballet for president.  On his very first day in the oval office, he will cancel the deal that Obama signed with Iran.  Rubio’s speech at the Sunshine Summit revolved around limited government, free enterprise, and strong families with strong values.  These three core principles are what can make America great again.  (Full Speeches: GOP Candidates At "Sunshine Summit" In Florida, 2015)

The second democratic debate took place in Iowa over the weekend.  There are far less choices on democratic side the spectrum.  Hillary, Sanders, and O’Malley had the opportunity to share their ideas with the American people.  Sanders’ wants to increase social security benefits, make public college free, build infrastructure, and tax the rich to pay for it.  He just doesn’t know how much to tax them yet.  When asked how she would regulate Wall Street when they are her biggest contributors, Clinton claims to have a tough plan.  She will go not only after big banks, but after hedge funds as well. (Full Video: Watch the CBS News Democratic Debate )  Is there  a politician out there who is not in someway influenced by their major contributors?

Even when you’re dealing with nothing but jokers, you still have to pick one.  Carson is right in the idea that those who do not vote help allow the wrong one to get voted in.  Next November you’ll get to pick one, but keep in mind the next joker that takes office may just do us all in.

The current leadership uses the power of the regime to extend their plan.  The opposition had little chance for a win in Tanzania, with the governing party enjoying the use of state machinery and resources to gain the advantage in last weeks elections.  Going against the wishes of the opposition, the electoral commission predicted a win early for John Magufuli, as they continually updated results while they votes were being tallied.

The elected president is in dispute with those rejecting the results over lack of clarity and regulation.  This was expected to be a tight race, and was said to end with John Magufuli taking 58.4% of the vote, while Edward Lowassa won 39.9% of vote.  Lowassa refused to concede and requested a recount, as he accused the ruling party of vote rigging.  After the governing party chose not to nominate him as their candidate, he jumped sides to run as the opposition.  Edward Lowassa was the first candidate in Tanzania’s history to have been a longtime member of the governing regime, and then run against them.

On the island of Zanzibar, protesters are not understanding about the annulment of the Zanzibar’s presidential elections.  The island’s elections are separate from the elections of Tanzania, but appear to be the same result only different in who rejected the results.  This would have been the first time since 1977 that the ruling party lost power in Zanzibar.  The opposition was said to have won in Zanzibar, but then Zanzibar Electoral Commission (ZEC), under the influence of the governing party canceled the election.  The ZEC claims to have annulled the results due to voter fraud.

Chaos is blamed on the decision of opposition to ignore edict of electoral board.  According the ZEC, there were more votes cast than registered voters.  The opposition, Seif Sharif Hamad, declared himself a winner, when only the ZEC can announce election results.  Due to the voided results, a new election will be held at an undetermined future date.  With tensions high over disputed elections, two bombs exploded minutes apart without loss of life or casualties, but causing fear of what may be coming.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) elections are also in disarray, mirroring the issues of the Tanzania and Zanzibar political elections.  The constitution that is accused of being violated in this case revolves around the electoral board delaying elections until November 13.  According to the South Coast branch, an opposing party of the current leaders of FKF, it is not within the right of the electoral board to change the election date.  The opposition in this case indicated the election should take place on 10/29/15, which was expected to be the day the current leadership’s term expired. (Baber, 2015)

The Constitution should be respected, whether be it the 1984 Zanzibar Constitution, the 1977 Constitution of the Republic of Tanzania, or the FKF constitution.

Sixty-two years have passed since Playboy’s debut in 1953.   Heffner brought to print ideal images of the girl next door.  While shocking in it’s day, the magazine has lost it’s relevance since online images are so convenient and often more explicit.  Hugh Heffner and one of Playboy’s top editors, Cory Jones, look into the future. With less nudity on their website, they’ve found they’re reaching more thirtysomethings along with an increase in visits to their website.  They’ve decided it’s the right move for the magazine as well. (Somaiya, 2015) Images will be available to those who want to stare at the beautiful women, just in a new era.

Hugh Heffner carved out his name, and paved the way for those that followed.  Au naturel has become acceptable.  With nudity everywhere, it now appears to be more appealing to leave a little something to the imagination.  Talking like lions to proclaim a territory, they just needed to sacrifice a few lambs to get there.  They’ll introduce their new image in March 2016, before the opportunity to distinguish themselves again slips through their hands.

Some comment to say goodbye to Playboy.  They say this will be their end, as if there’s no way to escape being like all that is free online.  The original can’t leave, but can only go south.

The stylish men’s magazine has come to see full nude images are “passé,” according to Playboy’s CEO, Scott Flanders. (Somaiya, 2015)  Their targeted audience is college age and recent graduates.  They haven’t said what to expect other than they’re doing away with full nude images.  Wrap her in daffodils, and the appearance is no longer full nude.

Sensitive Man

As Speaker, Boehner was in the position to talk about things, but nobody cares.  Instead, many in government want someone who will put his or her own initiatives before the oppositions.  They don’t agree with compromise, and have brought this man to tears more than once in recent years.

Some conservatives were threatening to remove Boehner from his position of House Speaker.  These are the same conservatives who favor a government shutdown over passing a deal.  In an interview with meet the press on September 27, he decided to make clear that he couldn’t say where he’d be in a year.  Now is as good of time as any to depart, and doing so will help avoid a government shutdown.

With further house hearings set to take place in October regarding the Clinton email scandal and Benghazi, Boehner’s departure could be good news for Clinton.  In July, Boehner said she’s a liar, when Hillary mentioned she was never subpoenaed to hand over emails.  Boehner has suggested there be a criminal investigation into whether Hillary Clinton mishandled sensitive information through use of her personal email account.  We’ll miss his tearful speech if she is voted into office in 2016.

Conservatives were calling on Boehner to use the spending bill to defund Planned Parenthood.  They want funding stopped to this woman’s health institution that promotes choice to the rabbit done died?  Abortion is always a big topic in politics, but controversial videos of leaders within Planned Parenthood discussing aborted fetuses has moved it to the forefront.  While they diverted a government shutdown this round in passing a temporary spending bill, they still have the option to bring this up again for negotiations when talks take place for a permanent spending bill in December.

The Pope’s visit took place in correlation with Boehner moving up his retirement.  The former alter-boy is going out on a high note, and on his own terms.  Had he stayed, we have to wonder if he would have allowed the GOP to manipulate him into another government shutdown.  His replacement, if as conservative will be eating from their hand soon enough.
